Meeting with ATC Sqaudrons

October 22nd during his first ATC Squadron visit, with 6th Edinburgh City Sqd., Lt. James Moser observed cadets practicing their practical First Aid skills and later discussed similarities and differences between the USAF Auxiliary and the RAFVR with Officer Commanding Fg. Off. David Cromie who also serves Edinburgh as a Police Constable with the Lothian and Boarder Constabulary Force.

The meeting concluded with James presenting several small gifts representative of the US Air Force, CAP, and his own Roanoke Squadron in particular to some of the outstanding cadets present that evening.  James himself was on the receiving in of several gifts including a 6th Edinburgh City Sqd. Crest necktie  and a Sweatshirt from the Edinburgh and South Scotland Wing.

The following evening Lt. Moser visited with the 4th Edinburgh City Sqd. and though cadet attendance was low due to a school holiday that week - was able to meet and speak with several cadets and tour the facilities and see many activities the cadets were involved in each week, such as aircraft model construction, map reading, first aid, etc.

Most striking to Lt. Moser was the high amount of respect shown from cadets to their peers and seniors alike as well as the diverse back ground from which many of their officers and civilan instructors came including students from the city's University, social workers, policemen, and current RAF personnel.

Joining in 200 Years of Worship

James' week long visit to Scotland’s capital concluded, as any visitor and believer would have loved, hearing internationally syndicated radio teacher and preacher, Scottish native, Rev. Alistair Begg, who spoke at Charlotte Chapel’s 200th Anniversary Sunday Morning and Evening Service.

Alistair Begg, a former Associate Pastor at Charlotte Chapel from 1975-77, who had earlier that month been touring with Modern Hymn-writers Keith and Kristen Getty throughout the UK, brought both word and song to this significant anniversary as this Getty's concluded their “In Christ Alone” musical tour with a final concert which James was invited to attend at Charlotte Chapel.

Despite gale force winds and heavy rains (even for Scotland at this time of the year) James thoroughly enjoyed his trip and the special opportunities he was blessed with meeting and celebrating with fellow believers abroad.

Setting Sail on 50 Years of Fun

October 16th marked the 50th Anniversary of the BBC’s Children Programme Blue Peter. Although James was raised watching the US equivalent - Sesame Street, - he has, over the last few years, come to truly adore Blue Peter’s most unique and creative format which has inspired thousands of young people and adults alike over the last fifty years.

In honour of James’s studies in Modern British History as well as his love of the UK’s Pop Culture he was recently given a coveted Blue Peter Badge - displaying the show's signature ship ready to sail, but more unique than most with its glittery background in honour of the ‘Blue Golden Jubilee.’
